UPROOTED
Uprooted, red gum and steel bolt. 2018. A variation on a theme, this piece continues an exploration in materials and the concepts of high density, urban living and the rapid rise of development. As houses are uprooted, and old gives way to new, there is a sense of clinging on. The row of houses is tightly bound together horizontally in various states of elevation. As connection to earth is severed, and old gives way to new, houses and communities cling to old connections to land. Uprooted is moment of transition.
This work was created for and exhibited at the Uncontrolled Development exhibition at Brunswick Street Gallery, 2019.
