GLOSSY BLACK COCKATOO

I created this Glossy Black Cockatoo sculpture for Brunswick Street Gallery’s group fundraising show, Past for Future. The habitat of the Glossy Black Cockatoo has been decimated by the Kangaroo Island in the horrific 2019/20 bushfires.

‘In light of the recent devastation and catastrophic damage caused by the ongoing bushfires throughout Australia, Brunswick Street Gallery will showcase a Past for Future, a small fundraising exhibition in our Ground Floor Gallery space, with work from some of our beloved previous exhibitors.’

‘All proceeds from sales will go towards our chosen charity: Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities, a fundraiser initiated and maintained by Neil Morris, a Yorta Yorta First Nations man. Neil Morris is a recognised community rights and empowerment advocate for his fellow First Nations people, and has worked in direct consultation with and upon the request of Fire affected First Nations Communities, offering a culturally sensitive, specific direct support to some of those communities with critical costs to cover expenses resulting from these fires.’

This work sold for $390 and 100% of proceeds went directly to the selected charity.
