No girl should miss school. Period!
Animation created for CARE Australia’s crowdfunding campaign.
I animated the first 15 seconds showing a girl getting her first period. I also created the stop motion section of the pads and liners from 49 seconds. This was a fun project!
some days are still like this
This is some animation I did way back in 2006, the year my mother died, set to some music I created on a contemplative day in 2014.

Spoon Man – by ingrid k brooker
Proclaimed ‘Happy Tramp’, Simon Spoons travels from place to place playing the spoons and is most famed for his rendition of Insomnia by Faithless.
Composed of 135 individual illustrations this portrait strips Simon’s performance into its most essential element – the beat of the spoons. Minimalistic in its representation of both visual and aural aspects of performance, this piece aims to capture the essence of Simon’s mesmerising rhythms.
Ingrid K Brooker is a Melbourne based creative who nurtures a multidisciplinary practice through sculpture, printmaking, painting, drawing, design, weaving, animation and filmmaking.

otherwise
“A gutsy convention-defying gender-euphoric one-person show weaving theatre, magical animation, movement, comedy, puppets & multimedia Other-wise is a captivating, thought-provoking and funny one-person show. It is a letter to Sunny’s family come to life on the stage. This morning I lost my homework and the dog ate my gender.
Children, can you say trans-gender? Animated creatures whisk us into worlds of magic as Sunny explores boy tits, being honest with one’s family, transgender history, learning to fly and getting comfortable with contradictions and not knowing. Other-wise combines creative mediums in surprising and original ways: live objects become animation, dance blends into absurd gameshows, heartfelt storytelling bounces off the page, puppets attempt to hijack the show, and just when you think you’re safe: a splash of musical theatre bursts forth! Temporary multimedia projection surfaces morph and spring up suddenly. In moments, performer and animation are immersed in one another.
Warning: you will only understand this show if you are human & born on planet earth. If you’ve ever tried to fit into other people’s expectations or been worried someone wouldnt understand or be proud of you, then this story is also about you.”

animating x
Here I am animating X. This was my first time using silicone models, ball and joint armatures, and green screen. I think it the first time I have actually made anything walk like a human. Usually I create models with no legs so I don’t need to bother with animating walking. Its hard work! Many challenges along the way but very rewarding results in the end. The green screens were dropped out in post production, leaving the creatures to inhabit ‘The Under’ and appear on Stage with Sunny Drake in his one-person show, X.

Stop Hunger. Feed a future
Concept, direction and animation by ikb. Made for CARE Australia.
Remember when you were told to eat everything on your plate because there people in other countries who were hungry? And how you thought, maybe you should send it to them? Sending food doesn’t solve hunger. Helping people grow food does.
